This recipe is a little North meets South. I’ve had Strawberry Shortcake with sponge cake, layer cake and a straight up biscuit. I like this version the best. Don’t substitute the butter for margarine or the homemade whipped cream for the prepared stuff and if you can help it don’t use a different baking mix. Pioneer is the best for this in my opinion.
